Well here I am at Fort Pickett, Virginia, Military Police Academy. It was a long journey just to get here! First I had to leave home while Josh, Rita, and Jacob were still at my house. That was hard! Then I waited so long to leave that I had to drive much later than I wanted in order to keep on my time schedule. I finally made it to the halfway point about midnight and started looking for a room. I didn't have a reservation anywhere because I wanted to play it by ear and see how far I could get. That was my second mistake. (In hindsight, my first mistake was deciding to drive rather than fly in the first place.) Who knew that ALL the hotels would fill up just because it was Friday night? by the time I found a place with a room left, the only one they had was a deluxe jacuzzi sweet! Those of you who travel probably have some idea what those cost even at a Super8. The guys upstate are probably gonna get a good chuckle when I submit my travel voucher, I just hope they pay it! What a waste of a really nice room. I didn't even use the jacuzzi. That was ok tho, I got a good nights sleep so I could travel without worry to my destination. It was actually quite a nice drive thru the West Virginia mountains, I even stopped at a scenic viewpoint where you could see the entire valley! BEAUTIFUL! At some point I realized I was being a little too leisurely on my journey and was behind on my time schedule. I was starting to get a little anxious because I was having difficulty with my gps going thru the mountains. I did have maps with me so I knew I would find my way, I was just counting on Maggie (yes I named my gps cuz she talks to me) to get me there via the quickest route. Next thing I know I'm sitting on the side of the road getting a SPEEDING ticket!
Well thats enough complaining! I've been here 4 days now learning how to be Militery Police Officer. Today we started the day at 5:30am with muscle endurance training. It was much better than yesterday which was a 2 mile run. I haven't been running several months and it was quite obvious when after about a half mile at sprint speed I ended up on the side of the road puking my guts out! But back to today. We did riot control formations and stances which was pretty cool. The afternoon was spent in class learning Military Law. That was quite interesting but way too much info to absorb in one afternoon. Yesterday we did role playing to practice interviewing witnesses. That was cool. Tomorrow is cardio for PT again, I hope it goes better than yesterday.
