Trying to understand selection
Why do non christians experience such deep void and despair? Are they "selected" and denying the call, searching but looking in the wrong direction? God draws the selected to Himself. He gives the desire to know Him. Does He not then give that desire for deeper meaning of life? If they are not selected why then are they created with such desires?

I don't think that is a very fair assumption. Most unbelievers probably don't experience deep void or despair. I'm sure some do, but so do some christians. Most are probably perfectly content believing (or not believing) whatever they want. I would have to say Scott and I have been happier since we quit going to church. :)
ReplyDeleteShelly, I'm sorry my thought wasn't clear. I didn't mean that ALL non christians experiance dispair. Just trying to figure out why some do. Where does that longing and yearning come from? People are people, designed and created by one creator, so it gets realy confusing to me when some people say that if you are a christian then the desires of your heart are put there by God but if you're not a christian then the desires of your heart are NOT put there by God. THAT doesn't make sense. If you're a christian then it is assumed that desire is God calling you to him. Which is said to be put there by God. So my question is why would God put that kind of need in someones heart if that someone was not one of His chosen? Anyway I don't really expect answers to these questions but I appreciate your comment and will try to be a little more clear in future.
